Exploring the Path of Life and Water: A 4-Day MICE Study Tour Through Slovenia with Sava Hotels
On an exciting four-day MICE study tour themed “The Path of Life, the Path of Water,” we joined representatives from 13 companies to explore the wonders of Slovenia’s thermal, sea, and lake waters at the invitation of Sava Hotels. The 13-person team brought good fortune as we traversed nearly half the country’s breadth under perfect autumn weather, uncovering the charm of three distinct regions—the Pannonian, Mediterranean, and Alpine regions—while experiencing Sava’s MICE offerings and its unique gastronomic and activity-based programs.
The ideal autumn conditions even allowed us to take a dip in the sea on November 8th! Our host partner, Sava Hotels & Resorts—the largest hotel chain in the country—offered an impeccable selection and coordination of MICE venues, services, and accompanying incentive or team-building programs that gave our event and travel partners an unforgettable experience.
Our adventures included golfing in Murska Sobota, testing our focus at Expanos, and visiting the sustainable Fonda Fish Farm in vintage Fiat Panorama cars, where we learned that 70-80% of atmospheric oxygen comes from the oceans. We tasted orange wines in Izola, sampled olive oils at the Lisjak olive farm, and an Olympic rower taught us the merits of teamwork on Lake Bled. At Bled Castle, we also discovered the importance of parchment in early book printing.
Our dining experiences were equally memorable. We enjoyed meals in the private room of Hotel Livada Prestige, relaxed in robes and swimsuits at the wellness center of the Grand Hotel Bernardin, savored cuisine in the former casino—now a unique event hall—at the renovated Hotel Histrion, and dined at the exclusive Grand Hotel Toplice, a nearly 200-year-old venue opened just for us. Each location featured dishes made from local ingredients and paired with Slovenian wines, showcasing the creativity of the hotels’ skilled chefs.
