Slovakia’s Tourism in the Spotlight
The First Slovakia Travel Workshop in Cluj-Napoca Marks a Resounding Success
Cluj-Napoca, 2024 – The panoramic restaurant of the Vibre Hotel in Cluj-Napoca hosted a unique event: the very first Slovakia Travel Workshop, which quickly became one of the most significant professional gatherings for the Romanian market. The event brought together leading Romanian travel agencies and top media representatives, who were invited to discover Slovakia’s diverse tourism offerings firsthand.
Strengthening Romanian–Slovak Tourism Relations
The workshop’s primary goal was to foster stronger connections between Slovak and Romanian tourism professionals. Nearly two dozen Romanian travel experts and journalists participated, gaining direct insights into the latest attractions and opportunities Slovakia has to offer.
Adding to the workshop’s uniqueness, several new exhibitors made their debut on the Romanian market: ParkSnow Donovaly, TDM Stredné Slovensko (Central Slovakia – Banská Bystrica), TDM Bratislava Region, TDM Levočská Dolina (Levoča Valley), Hotel Roca Košice, Aplend, and TDM Dobrý kraj. Their presentations highlighted a wide range of options — from ski resorts and historic towns to wellness retreats and family-friendly vacations — portraying Slovakia as a four-season destination.
Significant Growth in Romanian Arrivals
In recent years, Slovakia’s tourism sector has shown dynamic growth. In 2024, the country welcomed a total of 5.9 million visitors at registered accommodation facilities, a 3% increase compared to the previous year. While the figures are still below the record highs of 2019, the upward trend is clear.
The Romanian market, in particular, has demonstrated remarkable momentum: the number of Romanian visitors grew by 20%, a result strongly supported by the completion of the Debrecen–Eastern Slovakia highway connection. This infrastructure development has made travel significantly easier and is expected to further boost Romanian arrivals in the years to come.
HotelPremio Group: Building Bridges Between Romania and Slovakia
The HotelPremio Group played a key role in organizing the event. With nearly two decades of experience in PR and event management across Central Europe, the company has become a recognized partner in the hospitality and destination-marketing industries. In 2024 alone, HotelPremio organized more than 1,200 events, operating nine digital platforms and four business divisions.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Group continues to strengthen its presence in Romania. It is working closely with a Europe-wide renowned conference organizer specialized in medical tourism, with several joint projects already in the pipeline. This strategic partnership opens new opportunities not only in leisure and cultural tourism but also in the fast-growing field of health and medical travel.
Unanimous Success in Cluj-Napoca
The Slovakia Travel Workshop was more than just a professional showcase — it was an inspiring community experience. Participants highlighted the exceptional atmosphere of the Vibre Hotel’s panoramic restaurant, which provided an elegant setting for presentations, networking, and new partnerships.
In every respect, the event was a resounding success and laid the foundation for Cluj-Napoca to become a future hub for collaboration between Slovak and Romanian tourism stakeholders.
